　　On 27 July, Shishi City held its 2026 selection of celebrated chefs, dishes and restaurants of fishing-village cuisine under the theme "Maritime Silk Road Charm of the Song–Yuan Dynasties · A Hundred Delicacies of the Fishing Port" (宋元海丝韵·渔港百味鲜). Sixty chefs and rural banquet chefs from the city's catering enterprises and culinary institutions took part in the competition.

　　The event was jointly hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Shishi Municipal Committee, the Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the Municipal Market Supervision Administration, the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions and the Municipal Food Industry Office, and organised by the Municipal Catering and Culinary Industry Association and the Oriental Wanjia International Hotel. The scene was orderly and the atmosphere lively. Contestants — chefs and rural banquet chefs — took turns on stage, each cooking a dish live within a time limit of 40 minutes. Using locally sourced seafood from Shishi and flexibly deploying traditional fishing-village cooking techniques, they recreated the authentic old tastes of the fishing port on the one hand and blended in Maritime Silk Road culture to create innovative dishes on the other. Dish after dish of Minnan fishermen's cuisine, delicately plated and authentically flavoured, emerged from the kitchens, giving full expression to the colour, aroma, taste and presentation of Shishi's signature seafood dishes, while fellow professionals and judges paused to savour, exchange views and comment.

　　According to the organising committee, the event will award first, second and third prizes respectively among the chefs named "celebrated chefs" in the two competition categories, with the first-place winner of each category being conferred the honour of "Shishi City Gold Medal Worker"; all restaurants, dishes and chefs named as celebrated will receive plaques, certificates and special awards, and will simultaneously be included in the Shishi food resources database and the culinary talent database, as well as being recommended for municipal-level food selections and provincial-level culinary competitions.
