Trademark Owner: Jinjiang Seaweed Processing Industry Association
Jinjiang Seaweed originates from Weitou Bay in Jinjiang, Fujian, a region known for its subtropical humid climate and unique water conditions that are particularly conducive to its growth. The seaweed has a high protein content of 24%–30%, with particularly high levels of aspartic acid, glutamic acid, and alanine. Its taste is delicately sweet, and the texture is tender yet crisp, making it popular for various culinary uses.
As one of the top ten fishery brands in Fujian, Jinjiang Seaweed boasts strong industry infrastructure and research capabilities. Its products are widely available throughout China and Southeast Asia, contributing to an annual output of approximately 3.1 billion yuan, commanding over 70% of the national market share for processed seaweed. In 2018, the product received national geographical indication protection, becoming Jinjiang's first public brand with dual national standards.
