Shuguang Sweet Potato
Trademark Owner: Shuguang Sweet Potato Industry Association, Guanqiao Town, Nan'an City
Shuguang Sweet Potato is grown in Shuguang Village, Guanqiao Town, Nan'an City, an area known for its unique geography and favorable climate. The terrain is high to the northwest and low to the southeast, with the mountains blocking cold winds and sea breezes providing temperature regulation. The soil is rich in phosphorus and selenium, making it ideal for sweet potato cultivation. These sweet potatoes have thin skin, a sweet flavor, and a soft, smooth texture, making them popular in the market.
Historically known as "Sweet Potato Village," Shuguang Village earned three consecutive provincial and city awards for high yields. Although sweet potato farming declined during the labor migration in the 1980s, the demand for healthy foods has led to a revival of the industry, with products now being packaged and sold beyond the province. In February 2014, Shuguang Sweet Potato received the national geographical indication trademark.
