  Quanzhou Daily, May 26 –

Quanzhou has officially launched its 2025 Public Nutrition Week and the "5.20 Chinese Student Nutrition Day" awareness campaign in Hanjiang Town, Shishi City. Organised by the Quanzhou Municipal Health Commission and the Quanzhou Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, the campaign promotes the core message: "Balanced Diet and Exercise, Healthy Weight, National Action."

The campaign kick-off featured a keynote talk by Dr. Guo Huangang, Associate Professor and Chief Physician at Shishi General Hospital. Drawing on clinical experience and scientific data, Dr. Guo shared practical advice on maintaining a healthy weight through balanced nutrition and physical activity.

The event was designed to engage the public through two interactive sections: health services and hands-on learning activities. At the health service booths, medical staff offered free consultations, including blood pressure checks, body fat analysis, and personalised dietary advice.

In the activity zone, participants enjoyed educational games such as the "Food Pyramid Toss," "Nutrition Obstacle Course," and "Spin-the-Wheel Nutrition Quiz." These games transformed complex nutritional concepts—such as daily food group proportions and techniques to reduce salt, sugar, and oil—into fun and memorable experiences.

Over the years, Quanzhou has actively implemented its "Healthy Quanzhou 2030" Action Plan. The city continues to strengthen public health efforts through regular monitoring of residents' nutrition and health, dietary consumption patterns, and public awareness of healthy lifestyles.

As the campaign host, Shishi City has already taken the lead by establishing weight management clinics in four local healthcare institutions, offering citizens customised, one-on-one weight loss programmes grounded in science.
