Shenhu Peanuts
Trademark Owner: Shenhu Snack Industry Association, Jinjiang
Shenhu Peanuts are cultivated in the coastal plains of Shenhu Town in Jinjiang, where the soil is primarily sandy loam. This soil is loose, well-draining, and easy to till, providing ideal conditions for the development of peanut roots and the enlargement of pods. Peanuts are known as "tubers" in the Minnan region, and there are many ways to prepare them, but Shenhu's method is particularly simple and environmentally friendly. The process begins by selecting fresh, plump peanuts from the local area. The peanuts are washed and boiled in a special large pot with salt for over an hour. They are then sun-dried for eight days, with care taken to avoid continuous exposure to the sun. Once dried, the peanuts are sealed in a plastic bag and stored in a dry place for easy access.
The final product has a crispy texture and a delightful fragrance, with a subtle, earthy taste that evokes the essence of the countryside.
